Beschreibung
"The Range Rover was successfully launched in June 1970. At that time, management felt confident in describing its versatility as 'four cars in one - a luxury car, a performance car, an estate car and a cross-country car'. It is a matter of history that Range Rover was received with tremendous enthusiasm and has subsequently fulfilled all these and many other roles with great success. Features such as power assisted steering, carpeted floors, air conditioning, cloth or leather seats and wooden interior trim were fitted later. It was a body-on-frame design with a box section ladder type chassis similar to contemporary Land Rovers. It utilised coil springs as opposed to leaf springs, permanent four-wheel drive and four-wheel disc brakes and was originally powered by the Rover V8 engine.
Registered new on 7th November 1980 this Range Rover Classic is believed to have been converted to convertible specification by Wood & Pickett. In more recent times the Range Rover has been dry stored and presents in barn find condition. The body is sound and even the paintwork presents well considering it’s been laid up for some time. The interior is showing signs of age but is still in good order and could be renovated and re-used with relative ease, as to the hood which you can see has been professionally fitted with the rear bodywork reworked to a very high standard to accommodate the convertible conversion. We are informed by the vendor that the Range Rover runs although would benefit from further work to bring it back to its best. Showing 93,866 miles on the odometer this Range Rover is offered with a UK Registration document, books, handbooks, and various photographs of the car during a road trip through the Swiss Alps. Very few examples were converted to convertible specification and even fewer by the renowned coachbuilder Wood & Pickett. This is a unique opportunity to acquire an extremely rare convertible example, ready for restoration."
