Beschreibung

Chassis No. ZLA831AB000522680

Even after claiming the 1983 World Rally Championship title with the 037 – the last rear-wheel drive car to do so – Lancia was faced with the reality that four-wheel drive was the way of the future in rallying. Lancia's response to its German rival arrived in the form of the S4 Group B racer, its fearsome pace taking multiple victories in 1985 and 1986 before proving too fast for the narrow country roads of Corsica, resulting in a tragic end to the series as fans of Group B know all too well. Following the swift end of the category, Lancia homologated the Delta HF 4WD for Group A, launching it during the 1987 WRC season where it claimed victory in its debut year. The HF 4WD quickly proved dominant, securing victories in eight out of 11 World Rally Championship rounds. By 1989, the Delta HF Integrale 16-valve model had arrived, continuing the winning legacy with championship titles in both 1990 and 1991.

Resplendent in vivid red with iconic Martini-inspired livery, this formidable rally machine is powered by a turbocharged 16-valve 2.0-liter inline-four delivering power to all four wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle. Its purposeful appointments include a vented hood, a rear spoiler, adjustable coil-overs, and 16-inch white-finished alloy wheels mounted with Pirelli P7 Corsa tires. The cabin also showcases the car's rallying DNA, featuring a comprehensive roll cage, supportive Recaro seats, Sparco harnesses, two-spoke MOMO steering wheel, and a fire-suppression system. Co-driver duties are facilitated by a period-correct Brantz Classique rally tripmeter on the passenger's side.

Comprehensive documentation attests to its competitive history, with notable appearances in numerous historic rallies piloted by Dario Toscani in the late 2000s. These events include the 2008 Ronde Marche, Rally del Molise, Trofeo Maremma, Rally Città di Ceccano, Rally di Vallechiara Storica, and Autoslalom Città di Greccio. In 2009, the car passed to a new owner in Germany, who commissioned an exhaustive mechanical recommissioning by the specialists at Autohaus Sparwald GmbH – detailed invoices chronicling this work accompany the vehicle. The Lancia's competitive career continued unabated, with noteworthy entries in the 2010 Leiben Classic Night rally and the Historic Ice Trophy in the same year. The car was subsequently imported to the United States in March of 2022 by its current American owner.

The car is offered with an extensive file of documentation, including rally results, comprehensive service records, and a coveted FIA Historic Technical Passport valid until 2029, ensuring its eligibility for a multitude of prestigious historic rally events. This offering represents a unique opportunity for the discerning Lancisti to acquire a true Italian rally icon with proven historic rallying capabilities. Ready to continue its legacy on special stages the world over, this Lancia stands as a thrilling testament to the golden age of rallying, eagerly awaiting a new custodian will honor its heritage by using it as intended.
