Beschreibung

The Lamborghini LM002 represents the final evolution of the ambitious Cheetah project. Originally conceived as a military all-terrain vehicle, the Cheetah featured a Chrysler V8 engine mounted at the rear and lacked both doors and a roof. The project then progressed to the LM001, which introduced a closed body, four doors, and an AMC V8 engine producing approximately 180 horsepower, still positioned at the rear. Ultimately, Lamborghini refined the concept into what became the LM002, the first true high-performance luxury off-road vehicle. This final iteration was equipped with the legendary Countach 5000S Quattrovalvole engine, now positioned at the front, making it a unique combination of supercar power and rugged off-road capability. This groundbreaking model laid the foundation for what is now recognized as the modern luxury SUV.

This particular Lamborghini LM002 is an outstanding example of this rare and extraordinary vehicle. Originally delivered by J.B. Automobiles in Paris, it was first registered on May 5, 1988. Official factory documentation confirms its production as number 114, with its warranty beginning on March 31, 1988. Painted in the elegant Bianco LMB902, also known as Bianco Perlato or White Metallic, this LM002 features a striking interior in Bianco, complemented by a brown dashboard and steering wheel. Adding to its distinctive appearance, the wheels have been painted in the same color as the body, an exclusive touch that enhances its bold yet sophisticated presence.

From the moment of its first delivery, this LM002 has enjoyed a well-documented ownership history. Initially remaining in France, the vehicle had two French owners and covered 22,000 kilometers by 2003. The second owner retained the car until 2015, when it was offered at auction by Artcurial. The vehicle was then acquired by its third owner, the Top Logic Racing Team, a renowned motorsport group. One of the team’s racing drivers was none other than Philippe Charriol, a well-known figure in the racing world. Charriol was instrumental in founding the Lamborghini SV-R Trophy in 1996 alongside the legendary Stéphane Ratel, further solidifying this LM002’s connection to Lamborghini’s rich motorsport heritage.

In 2022, the LM002 was exported to Austria, where it was officially registered on July 25 of that year. Most recently, in December 2024, the vehicle went into our stock, where it currently resides. With approximately 31,000 kilometers on the odometer, this LM002 remains accident-free and in fully functional condition. While it has undergone partial repainting in its original factory color, it retains its stock configuration, free from modifications or aftermarket upgrades. The only exception is the installation of a period-correct Alpine CD radio, although the original unit from the era is included with the car.

This Lamborghini LM002 presents an exceptional opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts seeking a well-preserved and historically significant example of the world’s first high-performance SUV. With its unmistakable presence, powerful V12 engine, and fascinating provenance, this LM002 is a true icon of automotive history, representing an era when Lamborghini dared to redefine the boundaries of performance and luxury in an off-road vehicle.
