The Lamborghini Diablo VT was unveiled at the 1993 Geneva International Motor Show, setting the trend for nearly all future Lamborghini models with its LM002-derived "Viscous Traction" all-wheel-drive system. With the newfound traction needed to effectively apply the raging V12's 492 horsepower to the pavement, the VT helped to tame the wild bull that was the Diablo, creating a more manageable exotic than its predecessor. Along with the welcome addition of all-wheel drive, the VT introduced a host of other updates aimed at increasing driver comfort. These included wider seats, a redesigned control layout, power steering, improved air conditioning, and a new active suspension system with electronically adjustable dampers. Performance from the 5.7-liter Bizzarrini-designed V12 remained outstanding, capable of zero to 60 in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of over 200 miles per hour.
This left-hand-drive, U.S.-market Diablo VT left Sant'Agata on 21 July 1994, finished in sporting Rosso Diablo over Champagne leather with contrasting Rosso piping. The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report begins in 1999, with the VT showing registration history in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Minnesota. In 2002, the Lamborghini entered the long-term care of a Minnesota-based collector, showing approximately 16,880 kilometers at the time. The car would remain in Minnesota with its faithful custodian for a remarkable two decades, being preserved in outstanding original condition. This is evidenced by its presentation today, including its lustrous Rosso Diablo finish, Champagne hides, and iconic original 17-inch five-hole OZ wheels. Other details pointing to the enviable originality of this example consist of correct factory decals, plaques, and markings throughout, all-original Lamborghini-etched window glass, and its original Alpine stereo system with proper Alpine TDM receiver and remote CD changer.
Complementing this VT's wonderful originality is its fine mechanical condition. In July 2024, the Lamborghini underwent a comprehensive inspection, service, and detailing which saw it receive all new fluids and filters, spark plugs, wipers, four new Michelin Pilot Sport tires, and a 40-hour detail and deep steam cleaning. As one would expect of such a meticulously preserved example, the VT is further complemented by numerous original accessories in equally well-preserved condition including its complete set of owner's manuals and supplements in their proper embossed leather folio, tool kit, bulb/fuse holder and gloves in their leather bag, belts and tire inflator in their leather bag, tow hook, and service manuals.
Representing a major step forward for the Raging Bull of Sant'Agata, the Diablo VT introduced all-wheel-drive – a system now ubiquitous in the modern Lamborghini range – and is rightly remembered as one of the most exciting supercars of the era. Showing just over 37,000 kilometers (approximately 22,990 miles) since new, this exceptionally well preserved example would make an incredible addition to any collection of significant Lamborghinis.
