  • An even rarer take on the Agera RS—at one point the world’s fastest production car—of which only 27 were made
  • Gains key aerodynamic features including revised roof-mounted air scoop and spoiler
  • Powered by a 5.0-litre V-8 for a staggering return of 1,160 horsepower; paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission
  • Presents in stunning black with red accents and carbon fibre trim
  • Odometer reads only 993 kilometres

The Koenigsegg Agera was an instant sensation after beginning production in 2010. In that same year, Top Gear magazine lauded the Agera as its Hypercar of the Year, fending off competition from well-established rival marques that long pre-date the Swedish company’s standing start in 1994. Even more remarkable, perhaps, is how engineers at the manufacturer’s Ängelholm headquarters have consistently improved the Agera throughout its carefully implemented revisions and model updates.

Fine-tuning the hypercar to unveil the Agera R in 2011, followed by the Agera S in 2013, and the One:1 in 2014, Koenigsegg revealed the Agera RS in 2015. The revised edition brought together the best features of the earlier models and the RS was billed by the manufacturer as “the ultimate track tool”, thanks to its lightweight construction and sleek design optimised for the racetrack. While the standard Agera RS had a 5.0-litre V-8 on tap for a mind-boggling return of 1,160 horsepower, Koenigsegg engineers pushed the envelope even further when in 2017, a factory-tuned Agera RS—bearing the “1-Megawatt package” option—became the world’s fastest production car, reaching a blistering average speed of 447 km/h over two runs of a closed Nevada highway.

The Agera RSR was announced in 2016 as an ultra-exclusive take on the RS. Only three RSRs were made, forming part of the 27-strong production run of the earlier hypercar upon which it is based. The RSR shares the same twin-turbocharged 5.0-litre engine and power return but benefits from aerodynamic fine-tuning by means of a rear spoiler mounted higher up for greater downforce—as deployed on the earlier One:1—twinned with the repositioned roof-mounted air scoop that allows for the temporary removal of the “Targa”-style top.

Significantly, the Agera RSR was offered for delivery only to customers in Japan. Each of the three hypercars were tailored to the wishes of their respective buyers, with the configuration of each car well-documented since by car spotters and hypercar hunters alike. Identified by their sequential serial numbers, chassis 7122 is known to feature a turquoise exterior with a tan leather interior. The second RSR, chassis 7123 (offered here), is finished in black with red accents while the interior has black leather. The third car, chassis 7124, is finished in white with red accents, and features a distinctive aero kit with a unique front splitter and rear spoiler design.

The dark colourways and athletic stance cut a menacing profile for chassis 7123, which accentuates motion and looks fast even at a standstill. The Agera RSR’s cabin is an equally imposing place to sit, decked with black leather and carbon fibre trim. Understood to have had only one owner in its first delivery destination of Japan prior to arriving at auction in Dubai, the Koenigsegg has been used sparingly with only 993 kilometres on its odometer at the time of cataloguing. The Agera RSR is accompanied by its factory-provided torch, tyre pressure gauge, and warning triangle further to its owner’s manual folio.

In its 30 years of operation, Koenigsegg has consistently surpassed expectations and outperformed rivals. The Agera RSR is a fittingly ambitious representation of a manufacturer that has established itself among the elite of hypercar production. Encapsulating the excitement, energy, and raw performance carried by the evolution of the Agera, this one-of-three RSR offers its next owner the opportunity to own an exceptional and rare hypercar that will garner attention wherever it is taken.
