Beschreibung

-Black with Green leather interior and Black convertible top, Lynx-tuned 3.8-liter Jaguar straight 6-cylinder engine with triple Weber carburetors, 4-speed gearbox, Registered as a 1966 Jaguar, Collector ownership for many, many years.

The Jaguar XKSS is one of the rarest of all Jaguars. Jaguar evolved the XKSS from the Le Mans winning Jaguar D-Type racing cars at the end of 1956. In early 1957, a fire at the Jaguar Browns Lane factory destroyed all but 16 of the original cars. With only 16 examples completed, the XKSS legendary and among the rarest, most desirable of all road-going Jaguars.

Lynx Motors has been well-known as the caretakers and restorer of choice for many of the original C-type, D-type and XK-SS Jaguars. Subsequently, having restored and rebodied many of these originals, they have become well-known as the premier C, D and XK-SS recreators of choice. The Lynx XKSS recreation is constructed as the original with aluminum monocoque tub and square-tube engine frame. It is then fitted with an aluminum body designed to XKSS specifications to be exact in detail to the originals, complete with original specification windscreen, hood, bumpers and luggage rack.

These XK-SS Lynx recreations have been constructed in extremely low quantity. The Lynx XK-SS is virtually identical to the original factory-built XKSS. During the 1980's - 1990's, Lynx company founder, Christopher Lucas, already well-known for the restoration, accident repair and race preparation of many of the original C-Type, D-Type and XK-SS's decided to recreate these ultimate Jaguars as only Lynx could, true to the original in accuracy, quality and second to none. Only nine where created, although a few of the Lynx D-Type Short Nose recreations created were also returned to Lynx for modification to XK-SS specification.

This XK-SS is one such example. This XK-SS was the first D-Type Recreation by Lynx and featured in promotional literature to highlight Lynx's exceptional build quality and attention to detail. In long term ownership and originally purchased as a Short Nose D-Type, it was returned to the UK and under the stewardship of Mr. Chris Lucas converted to XK-SS specifications.

This XKSS has been in long term collector ownership, it has been cared for and maintained by the collections in-house technician. It has been exercised regularly, it has been shown at various notable events and concours and remains in superb condition throughout.

This Lynx XKSS, extremely rare in its own right, it has been built with the true spirit of Jaguar's legendary racers. These Lynx XK-SS's ensure exclusivity, collectability and values based on their superb quality and thus, desirability.

Rarely offer for sale as most are housed in significant collections worldwide, this XK-SS is available and ready for immediate use and enjoyment. Not only a fraction of the cost of an original, it is also a fraction of the cost of Jaguar's limited run of XK-SS and D-Type recreations, and in our opinion far more desirable than these factory recreations for several reasons.

The first and foremost, the factory recreations are not able to be registered here in the United States for road use. They were imported as race-track only cars and "not" for street use. Should you come across one of the factory XK-SS's or D-Type's that has been licensed and plated here in the United States, it has been done so by dubious means as they are not acceptable for USA EPA-DOT regulations for street use. This Lynx example has been manufactured with its base identity being a 1966 Jaguar E-type and easily registered for road use, not only here in the United States, but many other countries as well.

Second, and our opinion, these Lynx XK's have been manufactured by one of the greats, Chris Lucas's Lynx Engineering in limited quantities. They have already stood the test of time through many economic up and down markets and continue show their exceptional value as well as investment potential.

With prices for the original 16 Jaguar XK-SS's exceeding seven figures, the Lynx XK-SS's have garnered their owned cherished following. They are extremely rare and do not come to market often. This is an opportunity to purchase an exact recreation for a fraction of the cost of an original. A wonderful, well-prepared, serviced Lynx Jaguar XK-SS that is ready for immediate use for vintage tours, rallies and which is a driving pleasure to drive.
