Porsche 959 or Jaguar XJ220, which one would you choose? That’s a question that’s almost impossible to answer. Let’s take it up a notch: the Ferrari F40 or the Jaguar XJ220? To top it all off, we currently have both the Ferrari F40 and the Jaguar XJ220 side by side in our showroom, and it won’t surprise you that visitors are flocking to admire these cars endlessly. They are, after all, legends of their respective brands. The 1994 Jaguar XJ220 is a car that pushed the boundaries of automotive engineering and design, and it remains one of the most iconic supercars ever produced. Designed to be the ultimate hypercar, the XJ220 emerged from Jaguar's rich motorsport history and was developed in collaboration with Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR), the team behind Jaguar's successful endurance race cars.In 1988, Jaguar introduced the concept model of this XJ220, and with the model name, Jaguar aimed to reference their great success from the past. You probably guessed it: the Jaguar XK120 of 1948. What Jaguar did very well was the fact that Jaguar, with the XK120, referred to the car's top speed, and they did exactly the same with the XJ220. 220 miles per hour, to be precise, or 354 kilometers per hour. Did you know that the concept car was made by a number of engineers and designers in their own time? This, of course, made it into the history books under the name "The Saturday Club." The head of the design team was Professor Jim Randle, who had a vision of creating a Group B car that would feel perfectly at home on the road but would certainly not be outdone on the circuit. And, of course, the car had to be Jaguar’s calling card, making it a direct rival to the Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959. The concept car shared many components with Jaguar’s Group C race cars, such as the engine and chassis, but also received four-wheel drive and the typical Jaguar elements, such as a fairly luxurious interior for a car in this segment. The goal of this concept car was to showcase what Jaguar was capable of, and not necessarily to bring the car into production. When the XJ220 was first announced, the demand was overwhelming. Jaguar received more than 1,500 deposits of £50,000 each, highlighting the immense excitement surrounding this car. The original prototype was equipped with a 6.2-liter V12, but by the time the XJ220 went into production in 1992, it had a completely different heart: a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, derived from Jaguar's XJR-10 and XJR-11 race cars. This engine produced an impressive 542 hp, enabling the XJ220 to reach a top speed of over 350 km/h, with a staggering acceleration from 0 to 160 km/h in just 7.9 seconds.Despite its impressive performance and innovative design, the XJ220 faced some challenges. Changes in specifications, including the transition from a V12 to a V6, and a significant increase in the base price from £290,000 to £403,000 (including VAT), led to many orders being canceled. Additionally, the economic recession of the early '90s caused the market for supercars like the XJ220 to shrink significantly. Ultimately, only about 270–280 examples of this remarkable car were produced, making it a rare and highly sought-after vehicle to this day. This particular example, first registered in Switzerland on February 24, 1994, is a true time capsule and is in completely original condition. We assure you: you’ll be transported back to 1994 because the car is practically in mint condition. With just 7,500 kilometers and a single owner since new, this XJ220 is one of the most pristine examples you’ll find. The car is in excellent condition, reflecting the careful maintenance and loving treatment it has received over the years. The accompanying documentation, including the original factory specifications and a Swiss Carte Grise, confirms the authenticity and exceptional preservation of this car. The XJ220 remains one of the fastest and most impressive Jaguars ever, and this example offers a unique opportunity to own a piece of that motorsport history. Are you interested in this incredible Jaguar XJ220?
