Beschreibung

- A unique car, in Poland since new
− Registered with the Cabinet Office of Communist Poland

Manufactured between 1961-1970
In its day and age it was the biggest Jaguar on sale. First examples were powered by a 6-cylinder, 3781 cc petrol engine developing 265 BHP, which was borrowed from the XK150S model. The power was channelled to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual gearbox. In 1964, Jaguar unveiled a new, 4,2-litre straight-six engine, churning out 265 BHP. The larger motor was aimed squarely at the US market. In 1966 the car’s name was changed to 420G. It remained in production till 1970. Overall, 13 382 examples were manufactured.
Jaguar Mark X offered by the vintage and classic car auction company Ardor Auctions carries a large chunk of Poland’s history with it. It was owned by the Cabinet Office and was used to chauffer the then-Prime Minister of Poland Józef Cyrankiewicz around the country. The car was restored in the 1980’s in accordance with standards from the period. Its interior is a real eye-catcher. It remained complete, original and it has a distinct patina to it. Mechanically, the car moves under its own power, but due to an issue with the 1st gear, the gearbox should be looked into. Suspension should also be thoroughly revised. The current owner has had the clutch replaced recently. The remarkable past of the car makes it an incredibly interesting proposition for collectors with a penchant for cars related to Polish history.
Estimated value 65 000-85 000
