In 1951, the Jaguar factory had moved to Browns Lane in Coventry, which enabled higher production volumes than before. At that time, the manufacturer, which mainly focused on big luxurious cars such as the MKVII and sports cars such as the XK120, wanted to design an efficient and sporty saloon-style car for the upper middle class.

In 1955, Jaguar introduced something completely new: the Jaguar MKI. The car was progressive, it had unitary construction body for the first time in the brand's history. The engine was a 2.4-liter XK engine, six cylinders in a row, fueled by two SU carburetors. In terms of suspension and drivability, the car was a familiar Jaguar: a precise balance between comfort and sportiness.

The end result was successful, and the car received an update in 1957: The engine's displacement increased to 3.4 liters and the increased reserves of speed were now restrained by disc brakes. Even Sir Stirling Moss deservedly competed with MKI on the racetracks.

This 1959 Tudor White Jaguar MK I was brought to Finland from the United States in 1989. The current owner of the car, J. Pietarila, bought the car directly from the previous owner, Mrs. B. Sermeta, from the United States and brought the Jaguar to Finland. Jaguar was first registered in Finland on July 11, 1989.

The car was kept in very good condition, the interior and body were largely in their original condition when the car arrived in Finland. The current owner, a watchmaker by profession, appreciates precision and wanted to thoroughly restore the car while respecting the originality.

In 2003, the engine, electrics, brakes, exhaust system, transmission, clutch and other technology of the car were disassembled to parts and thoroughly restored at Triangle Motors, which specializes in British classic cars.

In 2016, it was the turn of the car's body: the car was completely disassembled and the body was painted all over in the original Jaguar Tudor White shade, including all the body panels and the body shell itself. The car's all surfaces are really neat and wonderful and the restoration has been carried out to a high standard.

The original chrome parts of the car's body were restored and re-chromed. The seals of the body, windows, chrome parts and light bulbs, and the covers of the indicators and taillights were renewed.

The wooden parts of the car's interior were restored by a carpenter. The seats are in their beautifully patinated original upholstery. The small details of the interior, such as the interior lights and radio, were restored and the roof lining was renewed.

The restoration of the car has been done to a very high standard and the end result is a Concours-class MKI whose charisma is complemented by the original black leather upholstery. The restoration is carefully documented, with restoration receipts and pictures.

The original tools are stored in the trunk of the car and the original owner's manual is preserved.

Jaguar withstands close view from all directions, including from underneath. The aristocratic style is completed by new chrome wire wheels with white sidewall tires.

The car has been serviced at British Classic cars specialized Grips Garage in the spring of 2022, when the car has also had a renewed fuel pump, CSI electronic ignition and spark plugs with wires. The car's original 3.4 liter straight six engine purrs smoothly and the transmission works precisely.

The car is registered as a museum vehicle, inspected in spring 2022 and the next inspection is in May 2026. A really superb specimen ready to be enjoyed.
