In 1971, Jaguar unveiled the Series 3 E-Type, the final version of its iconic sports car. It featured a longer wheelbase from the 2+2 Coupe and a wider track, offering enhanced comfort. Stylistically updated with a larger grille and flared fenders, it housed a potent 5.3-liter V12 engine derived from the XJ13, generating 272 horsepower. Achieving a top speed of 146 mph, the performance was impressive enough that Jaguar proclaimed the Series 3 was "Nobody's Pussycat.". Production concluded in 1974, marking the end of an era for Jaguar and its celebrated E-Type.

According to the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate on file, this 1974 E-Type Series 3 4.2 Open Two-Seat Roadster was completed on 6 May 1974 in Sable over a Biscuit leather interior, a very appropriate livery for the mid-1970s. The original owner opted to make the most of the Series 3's grand touring style, selecting the optional Borg Warner Model 12 three-speed automatic transmission. Additional options include air conditioning, chrome wire wheels, an AM/FM radio, and the rarely-seen removable hard top. The Roadster was dispatched to the United States on 3 June 1974, the very same month that E-Type production ended worldwide, making this one of the last E-Types to leave Coventry.

Since 1988 this left-hand-drive Series 3 has been in continuous ownership with the consignor, who received the car as a 50th birthday present from his wife. In 1991 they began a 9 ½ year complete restoration to return it to factory fresh condition. Consigned with 53,376 miles, believed to be original, a Broad Arrow Specialist who evaluated the car remarked that it is a "bone-stock example, beautifully restored with exceptional original detail." The Jaguar Clubs of North America clearly agreed with this assessment judging by the numerous regional and national awards bestowed on it over the next two decades. It has received at least six 100-point JCNA Championship Division scores with First in Class in each and many more above 99-points. Is it a three-time JCNA Class National Champion. Furthermore, in 2017, it received a AACA National First Prize over 15 years after the completion of its restoration, a clear sign of the enduring quality of its restoration and devoted upkeep.

Consigned with a rare factory hard top, chrome wire knock-off wheels, and numerous delivery items such as an owner's manual, jack, and spare, it would be difficult to believe that there is a better restored Series 3 Open Two Seater on offer today. It is undeniable that the E-Type is one of the great British classics and with its smooth V12 in front and the top down, this JCNA Championship winning Series 3 stands as one of the marque's finest examples whether on the road or on the show field.
