Der Jaguar E-Type war der erste Supersportwagen des neuen Jahrzehnts. Ein Auto, das Ferrari und Aston Martin in den Fahrleistungen übertrumpfte, aber nur die Hälfte kostete. Vor allem aber soll sogar Enzo Ferrari über den Jaguar E-Type von 1961 gesagt haben, er sei das schönste Auto, das bis dahin gebaut wurde. Der Jaguar E-Type V12 Serie III wurde am 29. März 1971 auf der New York Auto Show dem Publikum vorgestellt. Optische Kennzeichen der Series III sind der große Frontgrill und Kotflügelverbreiterungen. Der Roadster war fortan optional mit Getriebeautomatik bestellbar, außerdem mit innenbelüfteten Scheibenbremsen und Servolenkung. Mit der neuen Linienführung, die besonders der breiteren Spur und der flacher stehenden Windschutzscheibe geschuldet war, wirkte der E-V12 eher wie ein Grand Tourismo. Der Sportler verwandelte sich in einen komfortbetonten Gleiter mit einem drehmomentstarken, seidenweich laufenden V12 Motor. Das schönste Auto seiner Zeit – der Jaguar E-Type wird dieses Jahr 60 Jahre alt.

Durch Servolenkung und Automatik-Getriebe ist der hier offerierte Jaguar E-Type ein bis zu 276 PS starker und verblüffend leiser V12 Gentleman-Racer im Vergleich zu den frühen E-Types. Er präsentiert sich in sehr schön erhaltenem Originalzustand und sehr guten Fahreigenschaften. Diese sportliche Raubkatze sucht zu einem attraktiven Preis einen neuen Besitzer.

Zwischen 1971 und 1974 wurden vom Jaguar E-Type Serie III 5.3 V12 insgesamt 15.287 Exemplare produziert, wovon 7.297 Stück als Coupé das Werk verließen.

The Jaguar E-Type was the first super sports car of the new decade. A car that surpassed Ferrari and Aston Martin in driving performance, but only cost half as much. But above all, even Enzo Ferrari said about the Jaguar E-Type of 1961 that it was the most beautiful car that had been built up to that time. The Jaguar E-Type V12 Series III was presented to the public at the New York Auto Show on 29 March 1971. Visual characteristics of the Series III were the large front grille and wing flares. From then on, the roadster was optionally available with automatic transmission, ventilated disc brakes and power steering. With the new lines, which were especially due to the wider track and the flatter windscreen, the E-V12 looked more like a Grand Tourismo. The sports car was transformed into a comfortable cruiser with a high-torque, smooth-running V12 engine. The most beautiful car of its time - the Jaguar E-Type - turns into an age of 60 this year.

With power steering and automatic transmission, the Jaguar E-Type offered here is a V12 gentleman racer with up to 276 hp and amazingly quiet compared to the early E-Type. Between 1971 and 1974 15.287 examples of the Jaguar E-Type Series III 5.3 V12 were produced. 7.297 of them left the factory as coupés.
