Beginning in 1964, with the switch to 4.2L, bucket seats gave way to more comfortable reclining seats, and the dashboard and center console were covered with Rexine, a black vinyl, instead of corked aluminum. The radiator, cooling system and fan are significantly improved on the 4.2 L, since the 3.8 L is equipped with an electric fan consisting of a wiper motor on which is mounted a piece of twisted iron as a propeller. This car is hardly usable in modern congested traffic without an auxiliary fan. The Moss gearbox has been replaced by a fully synchronized Jaguar gearbox, which is nicer if not efficient.
