Beschreibung
When considering the finest and most influential postwar sports cars ever built, Jaguar’s projectile-shaped E-Type, alternatively known as the XKE in North America, stands tall among them. This E-Type Roadster was manufactured on February 22, 1966, dispatched to Jaguar Cars New York on April 1, 1966, and remained in one family’s care for the next 54 years.
Upon acquiring the Jaguar from the estate of the original owner, the consignor embarked on a restoration to concours standards overseen by UK marque experts Woodham Mortimer. The work was completed to great effect in 2021–2022 by Brightwell Motor Company of Hockley, Essex. In addition to a color change to Black paintwork from the original Cream, the E-Type is complemented by a black canvas soft top and boot cover and black leather upholstery, plus a color-matched, genuine Jaguar optional hardtop trimmed in Biscuit cloth.
The original 4.2-litre engine was overhauled to “fast road” specification, delivering 275 bhp with desirable supporting systems, including the deep-core aluminum radiator and electric fan conversion. The chassis and suspension were restored to match, enhanced by numerous upgrades for improved drivability and handling. In addition to a copy of its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, this E-Type Roadster is accompanied by copies of restoration records and a 1966 Bill of Sale. As offered, this Jaguar is a simply outstanding example of a true sporting legend in all respects.
