The open road calling is a common thread woven into the American story and for good reason! Nowhere can the adventurous nature of those who yearn for what is over the next crest be so fulfilled, and for those with an interest in vintage and pre-war automobiles, the vehicle is often a major part of the journey. Combining the right vintage car and the right road trip is key, and this delightful combination of a 1935 Ford Convertible Sedan and modern teardrop-style trailer should make the choice quite evident.
Introduced for the 1935 model year, the Convertible Sedan offered an exciting blend of multiple body styles that Ford called "a dashing Continental type that focuses attention wherever it goes." Combining open-air motoring with the practicality of an enclosed body, the new car featured a flat folding top, removable B-pillars, and leather upholstery. This Convertible Sedan features a number of period-style engine modifications to increase the V8's power while an alternator provides additional usability. Eddie Meyer valve covers, manifold and intake sit atop the V8 with a pair of Stromberg 97 carburetors. A bevy of auxiliary gauges keep those at the wheel informed while towing the custom-built teardrop travel trailer.
Finished in the same shade of red as the Convertible Coupe with many parts adapted from a 1935 Ford, the trailer features a rear clamshell that opens to reveal wood shelving and a small group of vintage accessories that include a picnic basket, kettle, and water jug. The passenger compartment is large enough for a queen-sized bed with additional shelving, twin side doors with a sliding window, battery powered interior lighting, and a roof ventilation hatch. Furthermore, the trailer includes a sculpted body color-matched trunk mounted to the trailer tongue for additional storage. The combination of a Ford Convertible Sedan with its period speed equipment and a custom, practical travel trailer may be the perfect elixir for those looking to explore the open road in a well-considered vintage style.
