Beschreibung
Isn’t it quite amazing that although the introduction of the Fiat 600 in 1955 meant the start of the era of Italian mass mobility, Vignale as a coachbuilder decided to produce their own interpretation of this popular car?
Clothing the standard Fiat mechanicals in all-new pretty Coupé body with typical Vignale design accents, these cars provided a more desirable and exclusive product (only a 100 were produced), but this had automatically consequences on the price.
It was logic that only the variant with an engine enlarged to 750 cc., which Fiat made available from 1960, was used by Vignale. Apart from the 750 Coupe, Vignale offered also an even rarer 750 Spider.
(A few years later the German Neckar, a joint venture of Fiat and NSU built the 600 under license. To complement their range Neckar offered the 750 Coupe as well, now exotically named the Neckar-Jagst 770 Riviera.)
This Vignale 750 Coupé was till recently part of a charming Fiat 600 collection in Tuscany – Italy and regularly used for classic car outings in this beautiful area.
Still registered on the cars first black Italian numberplate CH32848 from the Province of Chieti in the Abruzzo mountains and as can been deducted from the original green “libretto” with only 3 owners from new.
Charmed as I was by the exclusivity of this Vignale interpretation on the popular Fiat 600, I am quite sure this elegant Coupé will also seduce an enthusiast of Italian coachbuilt sportscars, who this time will not need to have “deep pockets” to secure for himself a rare exotic Italian sportscoupé.
