It has taken some time before people have began to appreciate the Ferrari 308 GTB is a well built and fine car. Our car has a great provenance as well as being in great shape. The car has been fully restored and mechanically overhauled, since when it has been cherished by subsequent owners and garaged when not in use. The car’s history has been carefully maintained and perusing the paperwork we can observe this is a matching numbers and colours car.
It has splendid looking bodywork. The original panelwork has wonderful shut lines. Matters such as the headlights, bumpers and windows are all in very good condition. The car has its original rims shod in good quality and correctly sized tyres. Door and window rubbers have also been replaced. The paintwork is excellent with only a few minor blemishes evident. The chrome front grill bars are in very good shape. The Ferrari 308 GTB design was, for some considerable time, called a big Dino and if you look at the car’s side view you can imagine see why. It a lovely proportionate stunner.
Inside it does not disappoint at all. The fantastic seats have lovely black Nappa upholstery. The new carpets are in good condition. All gauges and controls are in perfect shape. Veglia gauges always add that little bit extra, don’t you think? As if all that is not enough you have a wonderful front seat view of the open gate gearbox. Let us be clear about one thing; this is pure Ferrari!
The Ferrari 308 GTB has a 2.9 litre V8 engine with Weber carburettors. The engine develops 255 Ps at 6,600 rpm with a red line set at 7,700 rpm. It is a beautifully working engine as it goes through the revs. The soundtrack provide by the flatplane V8 is stunning. Helping you through the range is a manual 5-speed transmission. Both brakes and suspension are in peak condition and after just a few metres it becomes clear why the Ferrari 308 GTB is steadily becoming a firm favourite amongst the buying public. It is just such a beautiful ride! Of course today’s average “Hot Hatch” may well be quicker but that is not the point, these cars are there to give you a special feeling and this Ferrari 308 GTB does that as no other.
The accompanying paperwork is as fine as the car’s appearance. The car comes with two files full of documentation. We can read that for a long period the car belonged to a sales manager at one the big Dutch Ferrari dealerships, that its maintenance was impeccable and the restoration extremely thorough.
If you are looking for one of the best 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB’s on the market, this is the one for you.
