Beschreibung
- East Germany’s 1950s take on the BMW 327
- Delivered new to Finland; enjoyed in Finnish rallies and ice racing events
- Benefits from long-term ownership; acquired by The Munich Masterpieces Collection in 1997
- Restored to wear a two-tone blue and black exterior over a claret leather interior
It is thought that approximately 505 examples of the 327 Coupé were produced in total following World War II. Among them was this 1954-built car, which proudly wears the distinctive red and white roundel of East Germany’s Eisenacher Motorenwerk (EMW).
Imported to Finland in September of that year and registered for the first time in 1955, chassis 88001 enjoyed an early spell in the west of the country before spending the next chapters of its life around the city of Kuopio. Subsequent owners entered this EMW into rallies and ice racing events, which resulted in replacement engines being fitted. During this period, the current 328 racing-specification, 1,971-cc straight-six is believed to have been installed. Acquired by The Munich Masterpieces Collection in 1997, this 327 has since been restored.
Presented in two-tone black and blue over claret upholstery, this car has formed an important part of a significant BMW and EMW collection. It is now ready to be cherished by its next owner.
