The Model: Musclecar enthusiasts embraced the introduction of MoPar’s original E-body compacts. Both the Plymouth Barracuda and the Dodge Challenger were designed to give great looking vehicles for economy car buyers. If you wanted basic transportation, these cars could come with an inline six or a small displacement V8. But for those looking to tear up the pavement, just about any engine available in the Dodge lineup could be placed under the hood of the 1970 Challenger including power-packed 340’s, heavy-duty 440’s or the legendary 426 cid Hemi V8. However, the vast majority of cars wearing the Challenger name plate had the more tamed down engines. Now 45 years later, new technologies can help those cars built for the general popular of motorists, become legends in their own rights. Improved suspensions, braking and cooling systems and lighting display can transform a former daily driver into a supercar.
The Car: Featuring a build that is just a few years old, this is a truly modern car build around a beloved vintage coupe. Starting with the Viper V10 from 2004, it is conservatively at 500 HP, and this is backed up by a Tremec 6-speed transmission. To the rear 3.55 gears in an 8.75” rear end is fitted with a prolink 4bar coilover setup including a Watts link sway bar. Flow Master exhausts give a throaty sound which makes the competition shake in its boots. Stopping power is from a Wilwood disc brake system while the car rides on 18” Foose wheels. Taillights were sourced from a 2010 Challenger, which also provided the Halo headlights as well as the power-heated front seats. Custom built from front to back it was featured in a 2014 Car Craft magazine article denoting its unique build, great looks and ground shaking performance, and this package can be yours.
