The Citroëns 8, 10 and 15, quickly renamed "Rosalie" following the speed records achieved on the Montlhéry ring in the early 1930s, are considered to be the technical and aesthetic achievement of the "classic" Citroëns of the pre-war period. Marketed from 1932 to 1938, they adopted a one-piece all-steel body made of 4 electrically welded panels. On the mechanical level, Citroën offered its famous floating engines, two 4-cylinder engines (8 and 10 HP) and a 6-cylinder engine (15 HP) combined with a three-speed manual gearbox. One year after its launch, its range is largely declined since 75 body variants are offered on 5 different models.
The model we propose is a Rosalie 8CV coupé made by the bodybuilder Sical in 1933. This company based in Levallois Perret can be considered as a subcontractor of Citroën for which it manufactures special bodywork. Our Rosalie has a traditional bodywork with a wooden frame covered with sheet metal. Purchased in 2001 by its current owner, this car has been completely restored by its former owner who had himself acquired it in 1988. Completely dismantled in the early 1990s, the bodywork was restored and repainted, the engine underwent a total overhaul and the upholstery completely renewed. Almost 30 years after its restoration, our Rosalie still looks great. Well maintained, this car has been the joy of its owner for 18 years, used regularly during outings with friends in the Nantes region, he now wishes to part with it to devote himself to a new automotive project.
This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in La Ferté-Vidame, at the Citroën Centenary, France, on July the 21th, 2019.
