Beschreibung
In summer 1984 the CX GTI Turbo reached the Citroën dealers. Equipped with a 2.5 litre turbocharged engine, a healthy 168 hp output was available. At the end of 1985, turbo equipped petrol engines additionally received an air-to-air intercooler which had a positive effect on fuel consumption and minimally increased the engine output (which on paper remained at 168 hp or 156 equipped with a catalytic converter). The Turbo 2 was the most potent member of this group but also one of the most expensive, limiting sales to around 5’000 units by 1989. Our example, completed in 1989, was delivered in Switzerland but remained unsold for some time until it found its first owner on the 9th of March 1990 and, after delivery by Garage Michel in Burgdorf, was first registered on the 18th of May of the same year. The first owner kept his CX until, in around 1997, with then around 18’000 kilometres covered, it was acquired by a well-known Citroën specialist and parked in his private collection. In February 2021 the collection was dissolved and the Turbo was sold to the vendor with then 20’300 kilometres driven. He used the rapid French for occasional outings only in fair weather, but made sure the car was regularly maintained. This, in 2023, included a replacement of the forward pressure's sphere and the catalytic converter and in 2024, around 1’000 kilometres ago, an new main pressure reservoir was installed. Painted in «gris météore» with the optional sliding roof this CX 25 Turbo 2, with now 28’500 kilometres on the clock and a full service booklet, is in exceedingly good and very well maintained original condition. With the latest veteran MOT from February 2021 this rare example certainly will make a welcome addition to any Citroën collection.
