- La Citroën CX était une voiture attendue à son lancement, ayant la lourde tâche de succéder à la DS, elle devait associer tradition, innovation et symboliser le futur de la marque. Le style est confié à Robert Opron : si la silhouette est dans la lignée de la DS, le designer s’inspire surtout de la GS et de la SM. Plus courte que la DS mais offrant plus de place à l’intérieur grâce à son moteur transversal, elle subjugue les journalistes par ses qualités de routière hors normes et son confort. Bien que décriée à ses débuts en 1974 pour son manque d’innovation, la grande berline remporte un succès commercial certain.
- Dès l’année suivante, une version luxe Prestige apparaît au catalogue. Celle-ci est rallongée de 25 cm et propose un large espace pour les jambes des passagers arrière. En 1977, son pavillon sera rehaussé car le Président Giscard d’Estaing se serait plaint du manque de garde au toit une fois assis à l’arrière. La CX devient rapidement la voiture emblématique des institutions gouvernantes.
- Notre exemplaire a été livré le 11 avril 1980 à un PDG du canton de Fribourg en Suisse comme voiture de direction. Elle est ensuite cédée à son chauffeur qui l’utilisera pour son usage personnel. Elle entre dans la collection en 1989 alors que son compteur affiche 96 000 km.
- Notre Cx Prestige présente une configuration statutaire avec une carrosserie gris vert métallisée associée à un toit en vinyle noir. On notera quelques traces de corrosion au bas des portes et sur les bas de caisses. Dans l’habitacle on retrouve une belle sellerie havane bien conservée à l’instar du ciel de toit et des moquettes. Un téléphone a été installé à l’arrière pour l’usage de son premier propriétaire.
- Sous le capot on retrouve le 4-cylindres 2,4 l de la CX GTI associé à une boîte manuelle à 5 rapports. Affichant aujourd’hui 101 500 km, cette auto a été régulièrement entretenue et son système hydraulique a été révisé. Très convoitée, la CX Prestige propose aujourd’hui encore des prestations de premier plan.

- The Citroën CX was an eagerly awaited car when it was launched, with the onerous task of succeeding the DS. It had to combine tradition and innovation and symbolise the future of the brand. The styling was entrusted to Robert Opron: while the silhouette was in line with that of the DS, the designer drew particular inspiration from the GS and SM. Shorter than the DS, but with more interior space thanks to its transverse engine, it won journalists over with its outstanding touring qualities and comfort. Although criticised for its lack of innovation when it debuted in 1974, the large saloon was a commercial success.
- The following year, a luxury Prestige version appeared in the catalogue. It was 25 cm longer and offered ample legroom for rear passengers. In 1977, the roof was raised because President Giscard d'Estaing had complained about the lack of headroom in the back seat. The CX quickly became the car of choice for governing institutions.
- Our example was delivered on 11 April 1980 to a CEO of the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland as an executive car. It was then sold to his chauffeur, who used it for his own personal use. It entered the collection in 1989 with 96,000 km on the odometer.
- Our CX Prestige has a statutory configuration with a metallic green-grey body combined with a black vinyl roof. There are a few traces of corrosion at the bottom of the doors and on the rocker panels. In the cabin, the tan upholstery is well preserved, as are the headlining and carpets. A telephone was installed in the rear for the use of its first owner.
- Under the bonnet is the CX GTI's 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. With 101,500 km on the odometer, this car has been regularly serviced and its hydraulic system overhauled. A highly sought-after model, the CX Prestige still offers first-rate performance.
