Although the appearance of the interior pipe is very similar to the previous B12, the B14 is technically radically different from the 10 HP family. Presented at the Paris 1926 Motor Show, the chassis is lighter, the engine goes from 1,452 to 1,528 cm3 for more flexibility, the gearbox is reinforced and the suspension now uses four semi-elliptical leaf springs, oblique at the rear to improve roadholding. Four foot drum brakes, softened steering and a larger tank complete the picture. Without looking like it, with the B14 F André Citroën takes a big hit on its competition with a very competitive car on the market.... in a few figures, 400 models are released from bleach every day at the end of 1927. Citroën, with a market share of more than 30% of the new car market in just 10 years, is gaining ground over its competitors Renault and Peugeot.
The B14 Caddy are rare because they are built with the remaining stock of Caddy bodies initially intended for the B2. After the model was abandoned, the bodies were mounted on longer B14 chassis and marketed. Only about ten copies exist.
The model we present to you is an interesting B 14 G with Caddy bodywork, so three seats. Mr. W acquired it at the end of the 1990s from an amateur in the North of France. This one, Mr. Dufour had found it at the beginning of the 80s thanks to the very famous antique car dealer, Bruno Vendiesse. The car is complete but needs a thorough restoration. Mr. D is working on this considerable work, had the wooden structure, the mechanics and then the painting redone. The restoration is being carried out over several years for a very accomplished result that has not yet aged. The car has its own Caddy-specific accessories, including small golf club traps on the sides. They are numbered 336. Few Caddy models are on sale and this one, after a quick restart, will delight the Citroenist who loves rarities.
This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in La Ferté-Vidame, at the Citroën Centenary, France, on July the 21th, 2019.
