Beschreibung

With its Town and Country model, Chrysler made utility look fashionable, particularly in Barrelback station wagon guise. Just 999 were built for 1942, each example handcrafted with exquisite attention to detail, as evidenced by the intricate wood joints connecting carefully matched Honduras mahogany woodwork sourced by Pekin Wood Products of Helena, Arkansas.

F.G. “Tim” Burton’s collection of Chryslers spanned all Town and Country models, and he was honored by the Chrysler Town and Country Owners Registry for his dedication to these cars. This Barrelback model was acquired in 1968, and it remained with his family for 57 years. It is finished in a rare color known as Palace Brick Brown, the ideal complement to the rich wood tones. Wood finishes repeat on the interior door panels, while the seats are upholstered in striking red leather with the correct woven material inserts. Outfitted for excursions, exterior enhancements include a roof rack, fog lights, and a driver’s side spotlight. Moreover, this charming Town and Country comes accompanied by an original jack with instructions and a period sales brochure.

Unquestionably the most desirable of the Town and Country models, this example was carefully maintained by a well-known enthusiast for most of its life. A delightful combination of beauty, utility, and craftsmanship, its presence evokes admiring smiles while conjuring up images of the ultimate tailgating or touring adventure.
