Beschreibung

Offered here is an exceedingly rare two-door coupe version of the revolutionary Chrysler Imperial Airflow, one of just 200 model C-2 coupes built for 1935. Chrysler records list a production date of July 19, 1935, followed by delivery to Sacramento dealer E.A. Boyd. The second owner acquired the car in 1953, and he and his family retained the car in the Los Angeles area until 2011.

Upon acquisition in 2011, the third owner embarked on an extensive restoration addressing mechanical and cosmetic components. This exhaustive effort was completed in 2012 and, shortly thereafter, the car made its debut at the 2012 Airflow Club of America’s national meet in San Jose, California, where it scored 398 out of 400 points and was awarded that club’s highest honor, the Walter P. Chrysler Award. The following year, it scored a perfect 400-point score at the same event in Dayton, Ohio.

The current owner acquired the Airflow in 2014 and entered it in the 2017 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance where it received a Class award. The car is beautifully finished in its original color of polo green metallic, and the spectacular Art Deco-style interior is trimmed with tan upholstery using an exact reproduction of the original fabric. Recognized as a CCCA Full Classic, less than 10 Imperial C-2 coupes are known to survive and this example, with marque-specific wins and limited ownership, is certainly one of the finest remaining examples of a styling and engineering icon.
