The success story of the Corvette (The All American Sportscar) gets a new chapter when the C3, or the third model, was introduced in 1967. A rugged design that can immediately and without doubt be labelled as a cool muscle car. Even at that time. Little chrome, a line that looks more than ever like the classic Coca-Cola bottle and big engines: a new success for the brand was born.
This C3 was delivered in 1974, 5 years after the 350 cubic inch was introduced in two flavours, 300 hp and 350 hp. We have good news: this is the second variant, the L46 with 350 hp. This 5.7 litre V8 is linked to an automatic gearbox, so we can guarantee that this Corvette will provide a lot of fun.
This stylish, dark red Corvette was first registered in 1974 and has the Stingray logos presented for that model year on the front wings and modified door panels. For years, a C3 was especially popular in bright, intense colours, but now the American is really starting to become classic and more luxurious, darker colour combinations appear to be increasingly sought after.
When you see this Corvette running, you can quickly conclude that it is very neat. In the past, the Corvette has already been given a new coat of paint in the original colour and it is in neat condition. The few body seams are nice and narrow and even and the doors close nicely and easily. The dark red colour makes the subtly present chrome stand out very nicely compared to the C2. The original steel wheels with Rally design, including the chrome edges and covers, are also very attractive.
The interior is also very beautiful, the beige leather upholstery looks so good with a beautiful patina and can be beautifully combined with the dark red bodywork, the dashboard and door panels are all still very neat. While the dashboard of the C2 still had a kind of Jukebox look, the C3 has a lot less shiny chrome and aluminium. Two large, quite low-mounted large meters behind the steering wheel and a group of small information providers in a black plastic panel in the middle of the dashboard. Even further right-handed insert pockets ensure that small luggage remains in the interior and is not carried away by the wind.
The 'Vette' drives like a Vette should drive, with loud thunder from the V8 and charming driving characteristics that are a cross between sporty and comfortable. The 5.7-litre eight-cylinder is very good. What a spectacle it is to be on the road with such a car, a real treat. The kilometers whiz by effortlessly and hours of driving turn into days and before you know it you are on the other side of Europe treated to the sounds of that fantastic V8 engine.
