About this Collectable
A Dutch-delivered M3, understatedly finished in Silverstone II Metallic. But with 450 hp and 550 Nm of torque, this car is anything but tame. This example is fitted with the M Competition Package and M Driver's Package to get the maximum out of the car in terms of driving dynamics.
The latest generation M3 has a 'distinct' design, where by comparison the design of the previous (F80) generation is still quite modest. By M3 standards, that is. That makes it a car well suited for business use. Of course, enthusiasts will recognise an M3 out of thousands, but meanwhile no one will be offended. That is why the current owner used this M3 as a business car (it is a VAT car).
Understated or not, when it comes to driving, an M3 like this one is still an animal. That goes for a standard M3, but certainly for an M3 Competition which adds another 19bhp. With that, the twin-turbo six-in-line produces a total of 450 hp and you have access to 550 Nm of torque. Performance? From standstill to 100 km/h in 4 seconds. Top speed is capped at 250 km/h as standard, but not on this car. This M3 has the M Driver's Package, which allows a top speed of 280 km/h.
With the Competition Package, you not only get more power, but also a modified suspension. The springs, dampers and stabiliser bars have been upgraded. This makes driving the M3 with Competition Package a lot sportier than an M3 without it.
These days, a new generation is usually heavier than the previous one, but the M3 F80 was actually lighter than its predecessor. Even though the car did get a bit bigger. Part of the weight saving is in the roof, which is made entirely of carbon. This also benefits the centre of gravity.
The M3 range received updated headlights in 2015 and updated LED tail lights in 2017. This example rolled off the assembly line in 2017, so it features these updates both front and rear.
The car was originally delivered in the Netherlands and has always been serviced by the dealer or BMW specialist. In addition, this M3 Competition is very rich in options.
Note: as the owner drove the car for business purposes, 21% VAT is included in the bids according to Dutch tax regulations. Foreign buyers may get a refund of the VAT. Please consult your tax advisor prior to bidding.
Our opinion
This car is right up our street. The Competition Package completes an M3 and is a real improvement as far as we are concerned. The advantage of this particular M3 is that it has almost all options, without being too flashy. It is basically a family car in which you have nothing lacking, but should you want to entertain the rear passengers, this M3 is perfectly suitable. A fairground attraction with 450hp.
