HISTORY
The BMW M3 GT is a rare and iconic model, with only 356 units ever produced. Built as a homologation special for racing, this car is a high-performance version of the E36 M3, designed to dominate both the track and the road. It features a more powerful 3.0-liter inline-six engine that delivers 295 horsepower, an upgrade from the standard M3’s 240 hp. This engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission, ensuring a pure, driver-focused experience.
The M3 GT stands out with its unique British Racing Green paint, complemented by lightweight alloy wheels and a more aggressive aerodynamic package, including a rear spoiler and front splitter. Inside, the car is stripped down for weight reduction, with Recaro sports seats, a suede-wrapped steering wheel, and Alcantara trim.
Performance-wise, the M3 GT offers sharper handling and improved braking, thanks to its sport-tuned suspension and larger brakes. This combination of power, agility, and exclusivity makes the BMW M3 GT a highly sought-after collector’s item, a true legend among BMW enthusiasts.
OUR M3 GT
Our BMW M3 GT is one of the 356 examples built and was like all of them delivered new in Germany. The delivering dealer was BMW Niederlassung Essen, who also carried out the first inspection at 2,278km two months after its delivery, in November 1995. As late as 1998, the M3 GT was owned by a French gentleman, until at least 2006 where it was sold to another French owner, who kept the car for around a year before finding it a new home in France through Auto Motor’s Sport in Seysses. The fourth owner would buy the BMW with 137,976km on the clock and keep it until March 2013 when he sold it to a gentleman resident in Germany. A few months later, in October of the same year, the M3 was sold to a gentleman from Finland, who kept the car until it was sold through Motikon AB to the current owner in 2023.
The original service book of the car states the following services:
