Beschreibung
"The BMW New Six (also known as the BMW E3) was a line of full-size luxury saloons and grand tourer coupés produced by the German automaker from 1968 to 1977. All models used the then-new M30 straight-six engine. It marked BMW's return to the full-size luxury saloon market after a hiatus of five years and was introduced as a response to the growing market segment dominated by Mercedes-Benz. It was important in establishing BMW's reputation as a maker of sporting, luxury saloons. With a fully independent suspension along with four wheel disc brakes, the E3 was well ahead of its time in the early 1970s. Surprisingly quick, the 3.0 Si saloon was faster than the 3.0 coupé; which was a heavier car by 50kg, with the same engine configuration.
First registered on 4th March 1976, this car boasts just two former keepers, the second owner purchased the car in April 1980 and used the vehicle for some time before putting it into storage in 1988. In the summer of 2018, this car was fully recommissioned, master slave cylinder seals were replaced, new brake pads fitted, tank drained and all injectors cleaned, fuel pump serviced and then sold to our owner who was so impressed by the condition and originality of this rare manual 3.0 Si. Upon purchase our enthusiastic owner asked his local bodyshop for a quote to have the car fully repainted, the bodywork was in extremely good condition but the paint had dulled. After much deliberation of originality over condition he decided to go for it, the car therefore now presents with immaculate paintwork and nearly as good as it did when it rolled of the production line. Accompanying the car is a history file containing the service history which includes nine stamps, original books, spare key and many other bills, we are also informed a new cylinder head was fitted at 62,198 miles. A stunning appreciating classic with the 3.0 litre engine and manual gearbox which still is pleasure to drive today. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day.
