Beschreibung
Introduced in 1976 and known internally as the E24, BMW’s 6 Series served as the firm’s grand touring offering for 14 years. Paul Bracq’s masterful design incorporated traditional BMW styling cues in a thoroughly modern package and was mated to a drivetrain and chassis that benefited from ongoing improvements during the production run. This 1989 model incorporates all of those updates in a pristine low-mileage example.
BMW’s smooth-as-silk inline six-cylinder engine enjoyed a 26 hp increase over earlier models, and a self-leveling rear suspension was another improvement found in late-production cars. This car, desirably equipped with the five-speed manual gearbox, allows the driver to take full advantage of the free-revving engine.
Originally delivered in Southern California in July 1989, this car has traveled less than 7,200 miles in the hands of just three enthusiast owners. Its original black paintwork is set off by chromed TRX-forged alloy wheels, and matching black leather upholstery lines its interior. Luxury touches abound, including front and rear air-conditioning, a two-way sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, rear window sunshade and electric windows, antenna, and central locking system. The BMW is accompanied by its owner’s manual, brochure, and tool kit, as well as service records supporting its low mileage.
Grand touring comfort, style, and performance await the next owner of this exceptional time-warp example.
