Beschreibung
-Dark Blue over Tan Leather with tan Carpeting, 4.25-Liter inline 6 Cylinder engine, 4-Speed Manual Gearbox, Known History from new.
Bentley motor cars delivered this chassis to park ward & Company on November 11, 1937 with completion on February 1, 1938, as confirmed by Rolls-Royce documentation. First registration was February 18, 1938.
The 1st owner was Cecil Thomas Lyles, a scion of the Lyles Yarn & Mill. Then chassis cards show that in 1939 the car is registered to John Raymond Sutcliffe of Pyenot House in Lightcliffe who was also a 3rd generation woolen manufacturer (perhaps the families knew each other?). The Bentley remained in North England until 1967 when it founds its way to a dealer in Sevenoaks and soon after was acquired by Yvette & Jacques Kupelian, authors & publishers of automobile books including tomes on Audi-Auto-Union, Mercedes-Benz, Minerva and the Belgium motorcycle industry (the ADS to the Zircons). Jacques and Yvette Kupélian purchased this Bentley in England in May 1969 from a man named Peter Blair Richley in Ashford (Kent). The latter took out a provisional insurance policy "Benelux" valid for 10 days and delivered the car to them on May 25, 1969. According to the "Registration Book" which still accompanies the vehicle, he is the fourth owner. was then registered CAK 820. Once the customs clearance procedures were completed, the car received its Belgian registration in the name of Jacques Kupélian on May 26, 1970, and it never left this registration during the 52 years that followed. The couple would use it regularly. Purchased by its previous collector owner in 2023 and transported to the United States and subsequently traded to Autosport Designs Inc on a multi car trade.
Today this car is appealingly correct, sound, and smartly finished in deep blue with contrasting tan leather interior, which is in excellent condition, with fresh-looking carpets. Properly equipped with Lucas R100 headlights, appropriate center lamp and Alto horns. Comes complete with large history file, copies of original build sheets, UK Logbook, spare parts, extra set of tires, Jack, Spare wheel and Hand crank. Now freshly fully serviced, running well, complete, and very useable just as it is.
