The Austin-Healey adventure begins with the 100, fully designated as 100-4 BN-1. Admittedly, a little sexy name but the car makes up for everything. The design comes from Gerry Coker and is still appreciated as one of the most successful designs out there. After a few four-cylinder versions, the first six-cylinder came on the market in 1956, 2.6 liters in size and originating from the Austin Westminster. After two years the time has come, the Big Healey makes its appearance, the heavy boy. A 2.9 liter BMC C-series six-cylinder that has a large number of enthusiasts. The example we offer here is one of exceptional, beautifully restored quality.
The 3000 Mk3 BJ8 you see here comes from 1966 and is a Convertible 2+2. That 'Convertible' means that it is the luxury variant with, among other things, a round windscreen and side windows that can be turned up. The convertible top is also faster and easier to operate. A very popular version with the smooth 2.9 liter six-cylinder in-line engine. This Big Healey, like many others, started his life in America, Philadelphia to be more precise. In 2017, the Healey saw Dutch soil below it for the first time.
We do understand that the first Dutch owner chose this car, with original factory options such as wire wheels and an overdrive. The owner had the car completely and very professionally restored. No expense was spared during the complete restoration to achieve a perfect end result. The body was restored to high standards and painted in the typical Healey color scheme: blue metallic with white underside. The paintwork looks beautiful and that is no less the case for the many chrome work. The wire wheels, grille, lighting parts and bumpers: everything shows that this is a top quality car.
What applies to outside also applies to inside in this case. Beautiful leather adorns almost the entire interior. The seats, center tunnel and door panels are all covered with a dark blue, very flexible upholstery. Dark blue carpeting on the floor, which is also in new condition, and then there is the dashboard, which is largely made of wood and houses the beautiful Smiths counters. A beautiful steel steering wheel with a wooden rim completes the atmosphere. Of course, the convertible top is also in a beautiful condition.
The Healey drives more than great. It will not surprise you, after reading the above text, but the Austin-Healey feels like it has just left the factory. If we look at the car on the bridge, it can also be seen that the car is in concours condition.
The car comes with a full ring binder with invoices, documentation and a Heritage Trust Certificate.
