Beschreibung
If the Prince of Wales ever becomes "Charles III", will any of the British car manufacturers launch a limited series "Coronation Edition" of one of their succesful models? That's exactly what Austin Healey did when Charles' mother Elizabeth was crowned Queen in June of 1953. To commemorate this jubilant event, they made their BN1 model available in a special colour named "Coronet Cream", combined with either a red or a blue interior. Of each of these colour combinations it is thought that some 300 cars have been built in December 1953 and January 1954, the only two months during which the Coronation Edition was available.
This 100/4 BN1 is one of these rare limited edition Coronet Cream cars. Built January 22nd, 1954, chassis number BN1-L/151402 was delivered to the Austin Motor Company of America as a Coronet Cream over Red LHD car. Today, it still retains its original engine 1B/205358, as well as its 3-speed gearbox with overdrive on 2nd and 3rd gear. In recent years, it has undergone a full nut and bolt restoration by a Dutch Austin Healey 100 specialist, with a focus on quality and authenticity. Many of the typical characteristics of the early Austin-Healey 100 have been retained, such as the early type of dashboard with the detachable instrument panel and the aluminium trunk and bonnet – with the correct body number 1535 stamped on the side! The exterior paint is excellenty finished, and the red leather upholstery, carpets, tonneau cover and hood are of a superior quality. And yes, it drives as well as it looks!
If you are looking for an entirely correct, authentic, fully matching numbers and expertly restored Coronet Cream 100/4, then this is your car!
