1971 ASTON MARTIN DB6 Mk2 VANTAGE

A rare, factory original DB6 Mk2 Vantage 5 speed manual, uniquely finished in original build colour specifications of Garrison Green with Tan hide interior.

Believed to be one of only 34 DB6 Mk2 Vantage coupes, originally specified and optioned with the desirable triple 45mm DCOE Weber carburettor fed Vantage specification engine, unlike many originally fuel injection equipped (DB6 Mk2 Fi identity) examples, converted later to Vantage Weber spec’s.

This exceptional quality and rare, DB6 Mk2 Vantage has recently been the subject of substantial restorative works, carried out at Aston Martin’s own Newport Pagnell Works. Including chassis works, a bare metal re paint to factory standards and a complete retrim to the interior, in Connolly Vaumol 846 hides with new fawn Wilton carpeting and new headlining has been completed.

Mechanical restoration simultaneously carried out, included a complete rebuild of the original Vantage engine to lead free fuel specifications, a complete rebuild of the ZF 5-speed manual gearbox and rebuilds to the steering, suspension and braking systems. A discreet and effective, refrigerated air conditioning system has also been fitted, greatly adding to the practical appeal of this desirable model.

Recorded within the history file is a full description of the extensive restorative works carried out and completed in 2021, after 50 years and just 46,000 miles covered, in the hands of its 5 previously known owners.

A ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of David Brown’s era of Aston Martin ownership and production, this exceptional quality and factory original DB6 Mk2 Vantage, is supplied with the reassurance of the Aston Martin issued Assured Provenance book containing full certification of this example, with restoration photography, original build and specification details, all issued in 2021, on completion of the restorative works undertaken.

Last supplied by ourselves to a non UK resident for occasional use on UK visits, this exceptionally rare and desirable example of the ultimate specification of DB6 Mk2, has covered less than 300 miles since the restorations completion.

On show in our Hertfordshire showrooms this exceptional DB6 Mk2 Vantage, is available for viewing now and is supplied inclusive of full vehicle preparation, freshly serviced to the manufacturers schedule and with 12 months warranty.

Model notes:

The DB6 Mk2, produced for only 16 months, is the ultimate development of a product line dating back to the introduction of the 1959 DB4, constructed to the ‘Superleggera’ principles pioneered by design house Touring of Milan. Superseded by the DBS model, production of the DB6 Mk2 ceased in 1971. Fast, refined, spacious and comfortable, the Mk2’s benefits over earlier DB6’s, in being equipped as standard with power assisted steering, elegantly flared wheel arch profiles to accommodate, wider wheel & tyre equipment and in being fitted with greatly improved front and rear seating, featuring larger frames and bolsters with pleated seat panels. Highly regarded and undoubtedly the most developed, accomplished, comfortable and refined of the 1960’s DB line, the DB6 Mk2 ceased production in 1971.
