Beschreibung
-Argento (Silver) with Grey/Blue (cloth/leather interior) with Grey carpeting, Restored, 5-speed manual, Matching Numbers, Documented by Alfa Romeo Factory Heritage Operations.
Alfa Romeo introduced the Giulietta in 1954 and fitted it with a downsized 1290cc twin-cam engine, gaining an alloy cylinder block in the process. The original Bertone-styled Sprint Coupé was soon joined by Berlina (saloon) and Spider (open) versions. In 1957, the Sprint Speciale was introduced, they were built on a slightly shorter wheelbase and again wore coachwork by Bertone. The engine offered a spirited 100 BHP and was mated to a five-speed gearbox. Top speed was in the neighborhood of 125 mph. The SS was small, lightweight, compact, aerodynamically efficient and very powerful for its size. Between 1958 and 1962 a total of 1,366 Sprint Speciales were produced. The dynamic and highly stylized Sprint Speciale was a spin-off of the radical BAT series cars.
According to Alfa factory files, this Sprint Speciale chassis corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale (101.20), engine series AR00120 and was manufactured on the 31 January 1962 and sold to its first owner on the 10 February 1962 in Padua, Italy.
This Sprint Speciale was the subject of a comprehensive restoration completed in 2008-2009 with limited mileage since. It remains in excellent condition throughout.
A wonderful sporting Alfa, these Sprint Speciales are fun to drive, beautiful additions to any garage or collection and eligible for some of the finest and most exclusive vintage road tours around the world. Comes complete with Spare wheel/tire, Alfa Romeo Technical book and Alfa Romeo Heritage Certificates.
