Beschreibung

It remains a mystery whether the Giulia GTC was intended to replace the outgoing Giulia Spider in Alfa Romeo’s lineup, or was simply a limited-edition convertible offered until the introduction of the Duetto. Carrozzeria Touring of Milan was contracted to remove the roofs from Bertone-bodied Giulia GT Sprint Coupes, bracing the bodies without adding undue weight. Touring closed its doors in 1966, limiting the model to only 1,003 units and making it one of the most exclusive postwar Alfa Romeos.

According to its accompanying Alfa Romeo Centro Documentazione certificate, this lovely GTC was built in November 1965 and delivered that December to its first owner in Agno, Switzerland. Little is known about the GTC’s history until 2005, when it was treated to a rotisserie restoration by a shop in Switzerland, before being imported to the US in 2012. The car was repainted in Biancospino (Hawthorne White) and features red upholstery and a black soft top. Nearly every system on the car was restored during this period, with results consistent with what would be expected from Swiss craftsmen. The consignor displayed the GTC at the 2019 Alfa Romeo Owners Club National Convention, where it received the Pat Braden Award, given to the car voted most popular with concours attendees. Seldom seen, let alone in fine professionally restored condition, the GTC is a historic, rare, and highly sought-after open version of Alfa Romeo’s beloved 105-series Giulia Sprint GT.
