Beschreibung

This Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan chassis number AR852009 is one of only hundred and three right-hand drive cars produced in a single production run in 1964. Originally finished in Alfa Rosso with Nero interior and fitted with engine number AR0608 00881, this Touring Spider is today both matching numbers and colours. It also retains the ultra rare hard top originally supplied with the car.

It was first registered to the director of a large agricultural engineering company based in Wolverhampton on 5th March 1964 with the private registration number 1 SRE . Shortly after taking delivery of his new Alfa, Romeo Charles Weight tried to resist the establishment of a union at his factory by sacking two shop stewards. This led to 86 workers going on strike, not the best time to have an exotic Italian sports car parked outside your office. So shortly after taking delivery, AR852009 was passed on to Industrialist, High Sheriff of Stafford and friend of Bing Crosby, Lord Godfrey Bostock and re registered PRF 968B. Lord Bostock kept the car until 1969 when it was passed on to a new keeper in Cardiff and thensubsequently on to several owners in the same area. Then in 1978 when it was bought by a gentleman in Worcester who retained his Spider until 2016 when it was sold by Silverstone Auctions to a renowned international collector.

Despite being well maintained and in very presentable condition, AR852009 was shipped directly from the auction to DTR European Sports Cars for a full strip and bare metal restoration including all mechanical components, new wiring harness and electrical overhaul which was completed just a few months ago.

The collection from which this vehicle comes contains in excess of 130 important cars and due to a change of direction by the Principle this wonderful, restored Touring Spider has come to market and is being offered for sale by Southwood at a cost far less than it's purchase and subsequent restoration cost.

Interested parties are asked to contact us for further details and pricing information.

Please note - number plate displayed '10 GTS' is not included in the sale, we shall be approaching DVLA to have the original PRF 968B registration reallocated to the car.
