Beschreibung

Debuted late in 1966 to celebrate Buddy Elmore’s victory at that year’s Daytona 200, the Tiger Daytona was developed by Triumph’s Chief Engineer Doug Hele as the replacement for the already capable T100SS. Powered by a 490 cc parallel twin with a revised cylinder head, more aggressive camshafts, and twin Amal carburetors, the Daytona was an impressive performer that could rival the latest generation of Japanese sport bikes.

Continuously improved throughout its production run, the Daytona always maintained its traditional unit-era frame, even after the Bonneville and Tiger models were updated with oil-in-frame construction. Two distinct variations were produced through September 1973 – the T100R for the US market and the T100T for UK and Rest of World markets.

Constructed in September 1972 for the 1973 model year, this US-specification T100R is handsomely presented in its vibrant red and white color scheme with proper Daytona graphics. According to the consignor, this example benefits from a sympathetic restoration and recent service, making it an ideal choice for the collector searching for an attractive and accessible Triumph that represents the end of an era for high-performance British bikes.
