With its 'skirted fenders' a Chief is one of most recognizable motorcycles on the road
The 1946 models used an adaptation of the 841 Indian’s girder fork with a hydraulic damper and four inches more travel and was extremely comfortable to ride
This is one of only 6,500 Chiefs built during 1946. Now UK registered with a current V5C
Imported from California dealer Starklite Indian Motorcycles over 20 years ago
Restored over the years using mostly original NOS parts where possible
74ci (1200cc) engine rebuilt but not used since. Turns over with good compression
Correct numbers machine retaining its original seat. Tank clear of any corrosion
Correct Auto Lite distributor and electrics. Correct M344 carburettor
Dry stored since restoration and will require a little recommissioning before use
Considered by many to be one of the icons of American Motorcycles and rare in the UK
