Beschreibung
Each decade has their icons and it is safe to say that the BMW R90S is up there with the best, if not the best, iconic super bikes of the 1970s. One thing is performance, another is looks: The R90S came in a subtle grey and black fade and in an orange and silver fade, named Daytona Orange. Why be discreet when you owned the fastest thing on the road in the 1970s?
This lovely R90S has matching numbers for engine and frame and is in its first, original paint that has achieved a unique patina over the years. All paint is original and in remarkably good condition. There are a few scratches and chips here and there but nothing that detracts from the overall look. Over the years, just one battery cover was repainted. The orange paint on the bike was scanned and an exact paint match professionally applied to match the lightly faded orange colour perfectly. All the red hand lining is showing beautifully.
Still with its original R90S hallmarks: ‘Bikini’ fairing, twin discs at the front and dual seat with a discreet racing hump at the back. In the cockpit, a voltmeter and a clock was an added feature for the R90S.
This R90S was owned by father, then son, and very likely this is the reason why it remains so well kept and unmolested. Produced in February 1975, the BMW has only had three owners from new, with one family owner for most of the time.
As you would expect from a bike that has been serviced and cared for, the R90S starts on the button. Once the engine is warmed through, it will idle steadily. Gears select freely and on the open road, the engine revs very freely indeed. If you want to explore the 67hp on tap, modern traffic is quickly behind you.
The R90S comes with a pair of Krauser Classic suitcases.
