Delivered with Italian coachwork, disc brakes, and twin cam engine, the Fulvia Zagato continues to be sought after for their exceptional craftsmanship, innovative engineering, and cost-no-object attention to detail.Among the last of the pre-FIAT cars, the unibody front-drive Fulvia was designed with a dual overhead cam narrow angle common cylinder head V4 engine. Dunlop disc brakes on all four corners provided stopping power, along with a host of further technical features. In 1967, Road and Track magazine described the car as "a precision motorcar, an engineering tour de force". The Fulvia was surprisingly quick for its displacement and proved to be formidable in both rally and circuit racing. The rare and special Zagato coupe bodywork, available in limited quantities, provided excellent visibility and a surprising amount of space for larger drivers. Originally offered with a smaller displacement, by 1967 the 1.3L 87 hp engines coupled with lightweight steel and alloy body construction made for enjoyable sports car handling in a very compact package.History of this ExampleThis early series II 1.3 is identified as an early production car by the steel body, aluminum side-hinged hood, aluminum doors, chrome exterior door handles, smaller taillights, and a drop down rear spare tire compartment door. Having benefited from a glass-out bare metal restoration performed some years ago (reference photos included with the car), the former owner completed the body and paint work with the front and rear bumpers removed (included as spares), giving it a more aggressive appearance reflective of Lancia works rally cars. In preparation for sale, the carburetors have been cleaned, various minor details tended to, and headlight chrome trim installed. Cosmetic OverviewToday, this Sport Zagato presents in very attractive driver level condition with glossy orange paint applied over handsomely finished steel and aluminum body work. Panel fit is generally good with opening features operating as they should, including the spare tire access door. The chrome and various glass surround trim are all in very good condition, particularly the exceptionally hard to find grille. The formerly chrome plated headlight bezels have been refinished in satin silver. A factory designated left hand drive model, this car is outfitted with round quad headlights and a speedometer in MPH. The lenses, glass, and delicate “Fulvia Sport” script across the hood and rear body panel announce both the Italian heritage and design excellence, while Zagato coachwork badges quietly flank both front fenders. The desirable Campagnolo cast alloy 5.5” x 13” wheels are in excellent condition, adding a sporting period-correct enhancement to the overall appearance. A set of Bridgestone Insignia 185/70 R13 radial tires are mounted. The black interior is in generally very good condition. The low-profile bucket seats are in good condition with comfortable bolsters and good side support, though the seat material exhibits signs of age to both seat bottoms and side bolsters. The door panels and headliner are in very nice condition. The wood dash trim is properly finished, housing the correct instrumentation, clock, and rare radio delete plate with Fulvia script. The gauges and controls feature nice color and contrast, excellent trim, and a correct Lancia badged wood rim steering wheel. Correct ribbed and fitted rubber floor mats and rubber booted shifter appear to be original and in generally good condition. Lifting the rear hatch, the storage space area is nicely finished and properly trimmed with space for soft weekend luggage. Additionally, the rear hatch can be electronically raised and lowered via a dash switch, allowing for cabin ventilation – a notable innovation for this model. The engine compartment is accessed via early series side hinged hood tilting open to display the angled trim cam V4 engine. Both the engine and engine compartment are nicely prepared, with proper finishes, original type components, and generally correct hardware. The engine is a correct type 302 1.3 L series engine, outfitted with correct twin carburetors. The car runs and drives, with good manners once warmed to operating temperatures. Ideally suited to a mechanically minded enthusiast, the carbs would benefit from rebuilding and fine tuning. The disc brakes are effective for this period and the chassis has a coherent and comfortable feel suitable for mountain roads and spirited driving. The Fulvia is known for light and communicative steering, delivering precise and responsive results – certainly one of the top characteristics of this model. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a rare, technically interesting, and entertaining classic Lancia Fulvia Sport featuring distinctive Ercole Spada designed Zagato coachwork. Extraordinarily rare in the United States, Fulvias continue to maintain robust US based parts and service availability and can be easily serviced by mechanically minded enthusiasts, making them ideal usable vintage sports cars with unique construction, satisfying performance, and exceptional design traits.Included with this carThis Fulvia is accompanied by the original bumpers, a set of clear plexiglass headlight covers, a spare rear view mirror, a color matched side view mirror, a set of seat belts, a Fulvia repair manual, Fulvia instruction book, a Lancia aluminum data plate displaying fluid specification, and photos showing the restoration process.
