Each year, through its new Extraordinary Dials™ pieces, Van Cleef & Arpels offers a unique and enchanting interpretation of the passage of time. Landscapes from around the world, shimmering constellations, lucky motifs, as well as fluttering butterflies and soaring kites this year… Inspired by the Maison’s creative world, new artistic tableaux come to life in the hands of skilled artisans.

Within a single dial, artistic crafts meet and intertwine, forming compositions of remarkable richness, where every detail reflects the creativity and excellence of Van Cleef & Arpels.

Extraordinary Butterfly Dials

A Cherished Inspiration at Van Cleef & Arpels

An endless source of inspiration, butterflies have long nurtured the Maison’s imagination, embodying a poetic and ethereal nature in constant renewal.

Since the 1920s, these winged creatures have been transformed into precious clips and ear motifs, later adorned with the Serti Mystérieux™ setting (from the 1970s), mother-of-pearl, or lacquered wood.

In 2010, Van Cleef & Arpels embarked on a butterfly-inspired journey with a High Jewelry collection dedicated entirely to this theme. Butterflies also grace the Maison’s watchmaking creations, such as the Lady Arpels Extraordinary Butterflies pieces (2010) and the Lady Arpels Butterfly Symphony watch, which won the Public Prize at the 2011 Grand Prix (Women’s Watch category).

For SIHH 2013, the butterfly— a universal symbol of transformation— takes on new artistic forms, evoking the cycle of nature and the seasons: from day to night, from spring to winter.

Inspiration
Forming an aerial duet, two butterflies with outstretched wings appear to float in an autumnal atmosphere. Bathed in warm amber light, the sun’s glow envelops this mesmerizing spectacle.

Savoir-faire

Various artistic crafts come together on this dial, creating a luminous composition. Against a mother-of-pearl background, radiant butterflies stand out, brought to life using the plique-à-jour enamel technique. Their wings feature a gradient of warm tawny hues, harmonized with a half-sphere of sunlit paillonné enamel. Their bodies, adorned with navette-cut diamonds, captivate the eye.

Chaque année, à travers ses nouvelles pièces Cadrans Extraordinaires™, Van Cleef & Arpels offre une interprétation aussi inédite qu’enchanteresse de la course du temps. Paysages du monde entier, constellations scintillantes, motifs porte-bonheur ou encore papillons et cerfs-volants virevoltant cette année… : au fil des inspirations de la Maison, de nouveaux tableaux prennent vie entre les mains des artisans.
Au sein d’un même cadran, les métiers d’art se rencontrent et se combinent, formant des compositions d’une grande richesse, où chaque détail témoigne de la créativité et de l’excellence de Van Cleef & Arpels.
Cadrans Extraordinaires Papillons
Une inspiration chère à Van Cleef & Arpels
Source d’inspiration inépuisable, les papillons ont souvent nourri l’imaginaire de la Maison, incarnant une nature poétique et aérienne, en perpétuel renouvellement.
Dès les années 1920, ces créatures ailées deviennent clips précieux et motifs d’oreilles, puis se parent de Serti Mystérieux™ (à partir des années 1970), de nacre ou de bois laqué.

En 2010, Van Cleef & Arpels part à la chasse aux papillons avec une collection de Haute Joaillerie exclusivement dédiée à ce thème. Au sein de la Maison, ils se posent également sur les créations horlogères, telles que les pièces Lady Arpels Extraordinary Butterflies (2010) ou la montre Lady Arpels Butterfly Symphony (Grand Prix du Public 2011, catégorie Montre Dame).

À l’occasion du SIHH 2013, le papillon, symbole universel de métamorphose, se prête à de nouvelles représentations évoquant le cycle de la nature et des saisons : du jour à la nuit, du printemps à l’hiver.
Lady Arpels Papillon Orange Solaire

Inspiration
Formant un tandem aérien, deux papillons aux ailes déployées semblent flotter dans une atmosphère automnale. Chaleureuse et ambrée, la lumière du soleil enveloppe ce spectacle envoûtant.

Savoir-faire
Différents métiers d’art se conjuguent sur ce cadran, créant un ensemble lumineux. Sur un fond en nacre, se détachent d’éclatants papillons, mis en couleur grâce à la technique de l’émail plique-à-jour. Les ailes se parent d’un camaïeu de tons fauves, auxquels répond une demi-sphère solaire en émail paillonné. Les corps sont formés de diamants taille navette qui captivent le regard.
