Description

ARNOLD & STEINWACHS "LAC DE CUPIDON"
H. Arnold & Steinwachs, Genève, No. 57221. Made circa 1910.
Very fine and very rare, 8-day going, silver-gilt, painted on
enamel, ivory and glass mystery table clock with the original
gold-tooled morocco fitted box and key.
Bowl-form, beaded and laurel borders, concave side
and base decorated with translucent aquamarine guilloché
enamel painted with flowers in white and pale blue enamel.
Painted on enamel chapter ring with pale blue radial
Roman numerals, flower head half-hour markers, the center
with a mirror to simulate water and a carved ivory figure of
cupid in a silver boat holding a harpoon indicating the time.
55 mm., frosted gilt, three-quarter plate, 15 jewels,
straight-line lever escapement, bimetallic compensation
balance with three adjustments, Breguet balance spring,
index regulator.
