Description
Following the success of the original BMW M3, both on the racing circuit and in dealerships, the revelation of its successor in November 1992 was met with understandable apprehension. Devotees of the brand had little cause for concern though. The E36 not only brought a much-needed modern aesthetic but also delivered a substantial increase in the power department with the introduction of the all-new six-cylinder S50 engine.
Initially introduced exclusively in coupe form, early models like this one —predating the 'Evolution' variant in 1995—featured a 3.0 litre straight-six engine with a respectable 286 horsepower, today many collectors see cars featuring this engine as the more collectible examples, rather than later 3,2 litre cars.
Built on June 28, 1993, this particular car was first registered in Germany on July 7th the same year. Delivered in a timeless specification of a Sterling Silver exterior, complemented by the coveted option of a Anthracite M cloth and Amaretta interior. Factory options were electric seats, a sunroof and the larger computer.
The accompanying service book reveals the car's early years were spent in northwest Germany, and was serviced according to need. The car's most recent service, on July 27, 2020, occurred in Norway following the car's importation in 2019. Accompanying Invoices totaling over NOK 30,000 (approximately 2,500 Euro) document various works, including the replacement of fuel hoses. Since the last service the car has rolled a mere 150 km. Since MOTIKONs purchase in September 2023 the car has been imported to The Netherlands.
The car comes completely original with an owner's manual, service book, and tools. This thoughtfully configured M3 should undoubtedly attract all those in search of a superb example from BMW's E36-generation sports coupe.
