Description
Derived from the Series 2a, the Series 3 was an update of the already iconic vehicle. Many parts of the Series 2a were interchangeable with the Series 3, which was distinguished by headlights no longer placed on the grille but on the mudguards, a different grille design made of plastic and a new interior design. The Series 3 then had a different bonnet than the previous series with rounded corners and still retained the spare wheel mountings introduced on the Series 2a.
The new Series 3 retained the fully synchronised transmission with gearbox of the 2nd, which was particularly appreciated for its ease of use and effectiveness in the most difficult conditions. Offered in three engines, two petrol and one diesel, it remained in production until 1985. Interestingly, in 1976, the fifth year of Series 3 production, the 1,000,000th Land Rover was produced.
This 1983 Series 3 underwent a conservative restoration in February 2023 that involved the bodywork and mechanicals. Specifically, this Series 3 was fitted with a new tarpaulin, new original tailgate, new seals, wheel carrier kit, new door covers and new galvanised corners.
The following work was also carried out:
- Bushings
- Piston rings
- Head gasket
- Valve seat overhaul
- Valve rubbers and gaskets kit
- Pump overhaul
- Distribution kit
The vehicle is duly registered as a truck for transport of goods and own use and is also ready for export.
