Description
A very special, large-scale aluminum model of the 1959 Le Mans-winning Aston Martin DBR1 rendered by John Elwell (English, b. 1949). Elwell’s signature style is defined by hand-formed aluminum panels riveted over a space frame. The cast aluminum wheels with cast metal tires and exceptional detailing is evidenced by the hand-turned hardwood steering wheel and seats to the cockpit. Bearing no. 5 decals, and custom plate "59 LM." Signed John Elwell and numbered 1/1, 2009.
Aston Martin built the DBR1 for the World Sports Car Championship. At Le Mans in 1959, Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori took the laurels, driving this car in the 24-hour endurance race, considered the marque’s finest competition triumph.
Sixe: 43 x 17 x 11 in. (109 x 43 x 28 cm).
