Description
In 1984, to bolster sales, Bentley Motors resurrected the “Continental” moniker – a name indicative of a modern, well-appointed automobile designed to carry four people and their luggage in sporting comfort at speeds of up to 126 mph. The model received several safety and performance upgrades throughout production with the final series being the rarest and most highly prized. Built in extremely limited numbers with as few as seventeen final-year example Convertibles made, only seven of them reportedly made their way to the US.
According to the original window sticker included with the sale, this one-owner Bentley was delivered new to Rolls-Royce of Beverly Hills, stunningly finished in Sherwood Green and complemented by parchment leather interior with green piping, cream-colored soft top, and a suggested retail price of $283,000.
This Bentley has apparently benefited from limited use with servicing as needed by the dealer. According to the consignor, and as detailed in the mileage readings listed in the CARFAX Report, the vehicle had limited mileage before its 2007 odometer replacement, reportedly a common issue with this model. The vehicle currently shows just over 5,500 miles at the time of cataloguing and its presentation appears to confirm the reported minimal use. A note in the included service file states the soft top and fuel level gauge will require service before use.
This truly exceptional one-owner, final-series Bentley Continental Convertible is worthy of inclusion in any Bentley collection – it is part of a hallowed marque with over 100 years of sporting luxury expertise.
