What a car, this completely restored and truly in fantastic condition 3.0 CSI in the ultimate colour scheme. This BMW was completely stripped and restored in the right way: with knowledge, craftsmanship and budget. An E9 like this deserves that too because it is a highly valued all-rounder.
We have added photos of the bottom and the restoration for illustration if you are not convinced enough after reading the text. The photos show that the car is actually new.
The history of this black copy starts in 1973 when the coupé is sold to the first owner in Italy. A car with prestige in the country of the boot, where the BMW has a considerable status. A few years ago, the car was then completely, but really from top to bottom, restored. The BMW was dismantled down to the last screw and completely overhauled.
The engine compartment, the underside, the interior and of course the sheet metal: nothing that was not 100% has been placed back on the car. The engine and gearbox were also completely disassembled and overhauled.
The body of the car was reduced to bare steel. From there, every irregularity was eliminated. The nose, spring towers, window and mullions, sills: everything was skillfully made new. Then the body was painted in a beautiful black colour. It will not surprise you that this was executed perfectly.
The beautiful honeycomb wheels, where new original logos were placed on them everywhere, look beautiful and cover the new brake discs and callipers. The car has perfect Firestone Roadhawk tires and new Bilstein shock absorbers.
The interior is completely new upholstered in stylish brown leather. Not only the seats got that beautiful material, but also the door panels. The necessary details, such as door handles, ashtrays and other parts were made in the same colour. Attention to detail!
The wooden parts have also been made completely new, in the restoration photos you can see that they have been returned to bare wood and have been provided with new paint. The end result is formidable.
Details such as the beautiful 3.0 CSI steering wheel, the wooden gear knob with next to it the buttons of the electrically operated windows and the also new-looking instruments with VDO meters right in front of the nose make this E9 a 'perfect'.
The fantastic three-litre six-in-line engine with Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection has been completely overhauled and has hardly driven since the restoration. The state of maintenance is perfect and since all parts have been overhauled or are new, everything shows that this BMW also drives like new. Last summer, the BMW was still serviced.
Driving an E9 is a great experience. It is hard to imagine that the car you see here is fifty years old. Sportiness, comfort, flexibility and a lot of character: what a car!
The engine picks up fantastically and sounds even better than the original thanks to the stainless steel exhaust system. The four-speed manual transmission has also been updated, so changing gears feels smooth, easy and as BMW once intended.
This black BMW 3.0 CSI is one of the most beautiful specimens we know and definitely represents the top of the market. If you are looking for a 3.0 CSI in competition condition, the chances are small that you will leave this car after a viewing.
