The production date of this Maserati with chassis number is AM116*476* is April 28, 1970. Ex works engine and chassis number are the same and that is still the case with this car. This makes this Maserati 'matching numbers'. It belongs to the first series of Indy's and still has the angular dashboard. The color on delivery was Argento Indianapolis (silver) and the interior was made of brown leather.
The engine is a 260 hp 4,136 cm2 V8 with double overhead camshaft, mated to a ZF S 5/20 five-speed manual transmission. Between 1969 and 1975, a total of 1,100 Maserati Indys were produced, of which 436 units with a 4.2 engine, the others with a 4.7 (367 units) and a 4.9 (299 units).

On May 4, 1970, this Maserati was delivered to Rolma Automobili (at that time Rolls-Royce and Maserati dealer, hence RolMa) in Milan for delivery to the first owner, Walter Rabolini, CEO of a large company. The purchase price was 7.5 million Italian lire and the car received the regional registration number MIK95596.
Rabolini sold the car in 1972 to Luigi Neri, also from Milan. Eleven years later, in 1983, the car was registered to a company in the Bergamo region and received a new regional registration number: BG697281. In 1992, Anna Saju, also from Bergamo, became the fourth owner. Sometime around this time, in the 1980s or 1990s, the Indy was repainted in its current orange-red color.

Maserati enthusiast Dario Montanarini from Venice bought the car at the end of 2000 for around 30 million lire from a sports car dealer in Genoa. He no longer had to change the regional license plate because a change in the law meant that a license plate was permanently linked to a car. This also applied to the older regional license plates.
That same year 2000, Montanarini founded his own Maserati club, the 'Scuderia del Tridente'. Montanarini also owned a collection of approximately 15 Maseratis, including, in addition to the Indy, a Kyalami, a Quattroporte III and a rare Karif.
In 2011 he passed away, and his collection was sold through a sports car dealer in Martellago. The Indy came to the current Dutch owner in 2012, who has completely overhauled the engine and gearbox and restored the original leather upholstery.
