UrS6. Ur – as in ursprünglich, original.

In the early 80s, Audi introduced a revolutionary idea with its Quattro model: a four-wheel drive, fast and sporty civilian passenger car. Four-wheel drive was not a new invention, but it was a common type of drive, mostly in off-road vehicles. Audi wanted to bring four-wheel drive to standard family cars as well. The rally success of Group B Audis in the hands of skilled drivers such as Hannu Mikkola and Stig Blomqvist helped to generate interest in the civilian car market as well.

Audi named its four-wheel drive after its first model with four-wheel drive: Quattro. The first generation Quattro four-wheel drive system included car models like C3 generation Audi 100 and B2 Audi 80.

From 1988, the second generation of the Quattro four-wheel drive system with the Torsen center differential followed, which was also used with the C4 platform of the new larger mid-range family car. The first four-wheel drive car built on the C4 platform was the Audi 100 Quattro.

In 1991, Audi introduced a high-performance, four-wheel drive sports model to the family car class: the Audi 100 S4, also known as a UrS4. The car was based on the C4 platform and was available with a 2.2 litre five-cylinder turbo engine or with naturally aspirated 4.2 litre V8.

Audi updated the C4 chassis structure in 1994 and the UrS4's successor, the UrS6, entered the market. In terms of powertrains, the recipe was familiar: a turbocharged five cylinder engine or a naturally aspirated V8.

The specimen now for sale represents the most powerful and fastest version of the UrS6 from 1995: 290 horsepower 4.2-liter V8, with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The car has been sold new in Germany by München Audi Dealer Autohaus Riedel. In 2000, the car has been taken to Uppsala, Sweden, and further to Finland in 2013. Original instruction manual and servicebook with great service history since new have been remained.

The car has been thoroughly serviced and restored in 2022/2023, during the last 3000 kilometers:

- Complete engine cambelt renewal including belt, tensioners, rollers and crankshaft pulley. The valve cover seals and oil sump seal have been renewed. Water pump, thermostat, expansion tank and coolants renewed. Engine oil and filter changed.

- The multi-groove belt and its tensioners and rollers have been renewed.

- Spark plugs renewed.

- Battery renewed.

- Air filter and fresh air filter renewed

- Catalyst and exhaust system renewed.

- Paint surface polished and coated.

The body of the car has remained in tidy condition and the dark gray paint surface is clean despite minor marks of use. The original interior with sporty, electrically adjustable seats, upholstered in black fabric, is also in its good original condition.

We have taken the car for a test drive of about 1500 kilometers and it works perfectly. The transmission works precisely and the engine runs smoothly and the great power is still there.

The Audi has been inspected in 11 / 2022 and is ready to be enjoyed. An excellent, fast 4x4 estate for daily year-round driving.
