With only 12,565 km recorded since new and in careful Italian ownership throughout its 40 years, it is only logical that this car should be in remarkable condition. It is rare, as it is a 4x4 Sinpar version of the famous Renault 4. The 'Société Industrielle de Production et d'Adaptation Rhodanienne', founded in 1946, specialised in developing all-wheel drive systems for commercial vehicles and supplied several French manufacturers. In 1962, with Renault's approval, it presented a four-wheel drive Renault 4 at the Paris Motor Show. The conversion comprised an auxiliary drive linked to a three-part prop shaft driving a rear axle made from alloy; this was connected in turn to two shafts driving the rear wheels. A lever mounted on the dashboard let the driver engage the transmission. This equipment enabled the Renault 4, which was already very much at ease off road, to tackle difficult or mountainous terrain, especially in this GTL version with its more powerful 1108 cc engine.
In excellent condition and fitted with a sunroof, this car was delivered new in Italy. It comes with its ASI certificate and period Sinpar homologation plate from 1980. This is a great chance to buy one of the best-loved French popular cars, in one of its rarest versions.
